Reach the Gram Panchayat

Hat Tharp sits about 2 km from Didihat town, which is roughly 53 km from the district headquarters at Pithoragarh by road. The nearest major railheads are Tanakpur and Kathgodam, and the nearest airports are Pithoragarh (Naini Saini) and Pantnagar. Regular state buses and shared taxis run to Didihat from Pithoragarh, Haldwani and Almora.

March to June offers clear views of the Panchachuli peaks and blooming rhododendron, while September to November brings crisp, post-monsoon clarity and the festival season. Winter (December–February) is cold with occasional snow, and the monsoon (July–August) can bring landslides on hill roads.

The hilltop Sirakot Fort and Malaynath (Shiva) temple, sweeping Panchachuli and Trishul viewpoints, the Charma river, hand-tended terraced organic farms and community-protected sacred forests. Nearby lie the Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary, Chaukori, Berinag and Munsiyari.

Didihat town, just 2 km away, has guesthouses and homestays, and government rest houses operate across the region. Village homestays and guided heritage walks can be arranged through the Hat Tharp Gram Panchayat.

Hat Tharp is on a community-led carbon-smart journey. Its terraces have been organic by tradition, roughly 90% of the surrounding land is forest protected through the local sacred-forest custom, and the Panchayat is rolling out solar lighting, rainwater harvesting and waste segregation.
